Welcome to the Assault Section webpage.
The Section is made up of three Detectives and one
Sergeant. Detectives assigned to this Section are
responsible for investigating felony and misdemeanor
assaults, domestic violence incidents, annoying phone
calls and restraining order violations. Although capable
of investigating any crime, Assault Detectives focus on
developing expertise in their respective are of
assignment. Specialized experience and training are
instrumental toward solving many cases, and the
detectives have a close working partnership with the
local District Attorney’s Office to successfully
prosecute criminals.
Being the victim of a crime is unsetting
enough, but being victimized physically can be even more
traumatic. In addition to capitalizing on their
investigative skills, Assault Detectives must be
empathetic toward the victim’s needs. As an example,
the investigators who are assigned to domestic violence
cases work closely with victim advocacy groups to assist
the victim obtain available outside resources.
If you have filed a police report and are
calling to inquire about a case, please have your report
number available. This number is referred to as a “DR
number”, and begins with the last two numbers of the
year that the report was made followed by four to seven
numbers (e.g., 07-0001). This information will assist
the staff in determining current status of your case,
and the name of the assigned investigator.
