Welcome to the Auto Theft Section webpage.  The Auto Theft Section is staffed by one sergeant and two detectives.  The Auto Theft Section detectives are responsible for investigating stolen and embezzled vehicles, and conducting body shop and vehicle inspections.

How can I prevent my car from being stolen?

Never leave your vehicle unsecured

• Always lock your vehicle

• Never leave your vehicle running or unattended

Always park in well-lighted area

• Criminals hate light

• Park in well traveled areas, if possible

• Be familiar with your surroundings

Keep valuables and packages out of sight

• Exposed items will often encourage thievery

• Always lock valuable items in the trunk

Use auto theft deterrents

• Alarms with a built in ignition kill-switch

• Buy from a reputable dealer

• Factory installed computer chips and security keys

• Satellite tracking systems (such as Lo-Jack)

• Steering wheel / column devices (The Club / Lock-Jaw)
   

When these strategies are utilized on a regular basis, you can reduce the chance for thieves to steal your car, wheels or anything else of value inside your car.
