Welcome to the Robbery Section Webpage.
The Section is staffed with three Detectives and one
Sergeant. Detectives assigned to this Section are
responsible for investigating all types of robbery
crimes. Although capable of investigating any crime,
Robbery Detectives focus on developing expertise in
their area of assignment. Their specialized training
and experience are instrumental in solving numerous
crimes, and they have a close partnership with the local
District Attorney’s Office to successfully prosecute
criminals.
Detectives are assigned to investigate a
case after the patrol officer takes a preliminary crime
report. After the investigation is completed,
detectives present the case to the local District
Attorney’s Office for prosecution. If the District
Attorney’s Office agrees, the suspect is then formally
charged and the detective will follow the case through
the Court process.
Through the use of a variety of methods,
including crime analysis, networking with allied
agencies and information from citizens, profiles can be
developed to identify potential future criminal
behavior. This information can assist the Department
coordinate effective crime suppression and/or
apprehension efforts. The ultimate goal is to identify
the perpetrator of a crime, and assist the District
Attorney’s Office with a successful prosecution.
If you have any questions regarding a
particular robbery case, please call the listed
telephone number. When inquiring about a case, please
have your report number available. This number is
referred to as a “DR number” and begins with the last
two numbers of the year that the report was made,
followed by four to seven numbers (e.g. 07-0001). This
will assist the staff in determining the current status
of your case, and the name of the assigned investigator.
